Twist Bar innovation for switchboard application
  • Twist Bar Superiority
    • - Maximises the effective use of copper and reduction of watt loss and heat.

In comparison with conventional busbars :

      27% less copper consumption
      25% less jointing points
      25% less nuts & bolts
      Easy installation
      Lower maintenance costs
Able to withstand movement due to electrical magnetic forces in fault conditions
      Less joints and less heat

  • Research and Development
    • Oriental Copper has done extensive research, replacing the multiple-jointed straight busbars connecting the main ACB to the main horizontal busbars, with an innovative Twist Bar (with a Torsional Bend). Both types of switchboards (Conventional multiple-jointed straight busbars and innovative Twist Bar) underwent a Temperature Rise Test and Short Circuit Test according to the IEC-60439-1 Standard at TCA (Testing & Certification Australia). The test results showed superiority of OC-ETP® Twist Bar over the Conventional Busbar for the reduction of heat in the busbar system (Less temperature rise) and less movement of busbars when subjected to short circuit fault. These tests have been certified by ASTA in 2008.

  • Twist Bar innovation for switchboard application
    • Watt loss in a switchboard is a result of the electrical resistance in a busbar system, and electrical resistance generates heat. - This is noticeably higher at jointing points where electrical resistance is greater. Direction changes of busbars in switchboards require jointing points, so the greater number of joints means higher watt loss, more generation of heat and excessive use of copper.
